Warez Server: Open up IE... HTTP-Proxy for everybody: Open up IE... Want a stable machine running ages without a problem? Get a Linux Distribution install apache and add your files onto it. Recommendation for server operating system: http://www.debian.org All my boxes run it and I've never encountered issues with it.

Well even easier than that:

File Server: Open up IE…
Warez Server: Open up IE…
HTTP-Proxy for everybody: Open up IE…
Want a stable machine running ages without a problem?
Get a Linux Distribution install apache and add your files onto it.
Recommendation for server operating system: http://www.debian.org
All my boxes run it and I’ve never encountered issues with it.

By: Religion versus Science

I never would have considered at things in that light. For the virtual memory part, you actually degrade your performance by increasing it past a certain point. Maximum performance is at 2x your physical memory. So for 1gb(1024mb) of physical, you should have about 2048mb(2gb) virtual. Anything bigger than 2x physical + 500mb (so > 2548mb for the 1gb example) will start causing performance loss. It is also best to not put it on your system drive or too many drives. The more drives that have a pagefile, the more your processor is having to read and write to, decreasing I/O to your drives. On the note of drives, partitions are not a good idea either. Partitions are just that, your partitioning (splitting) one hard drive into different drives. So partitioning one hard drive and then putting a huge pagefile on all of them, will hurt performance extremely.Even so, this is still a good article for those who are new to computers and the step-by-step explanations accompanied by pictures are all wonderfully done.

I like this article, though i think it would be beneficial to point out a informational error.
For the virtual memory part, you actually degrade your performance by increasing it past a certain point.
